Mirfield Arts Festival – COMING SOON!

Join us for the 2nd Mirfield Arts Festival, a celebration of all things creative across multiple venues in the town centre. At the Hub we’ll be open from 10.30am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday (15th/16th July), and here’s what you can see & do:

Drop-in workshops:
Saturday: Robots, Rockets & Lunar Landscapes – design and create your own junk sculpture models on a space theme, and make stunning planetary backdrops to display them against.

Sunday: Enterprises and X-Wings – with expert help from our artists, create your favourite spaceships from the movies! Be it the Starship Enterprise, the Millennium Falcon, Tie Fighters or Klingon Birds of Prey, we’ll help you to make a galaxy of famous vehicles using pre-cut parts. Then, using bags of imagination, you can customise your ships with some extra special touches! Workshops are FREE – no booking necessary.

Exhibitions and open studios:
7th July to 12th August ‘Engage in Colour’ – an exhibition by ARTbound ‘This exhibition aims to enhance the beauty in abstractions, with no common theme other than to push the artist’s creative limits and visually appeal to the audiences mind’. Browse some of our open studios and find out what’s new with our artists, including a pop-up ‘creative cafe’ in the Juko Designs studio.
PLUS: Canadian artist Emei Ma will present a new series of works based on the Star Trek universe. This will comprise a series of 5 hand carved commemorative wood spoons. Each one will have a emblem reaching out from semi-spherical “bowls” that loosely represent planets, and feature Starfleet and other Trek emblems.

Arts Award
A bookable Arts Award Discover opportunity, young artists can book to complete this entry level course over the Saturday and Sunday of the festival weekend (12pm to 4pm both days). Book here
